How it all started
We are proud to be known as the first ever Law Centre to open its doors in England. Our story began in 1970, when we saw the need to campaign and gain justice for some of the most poorest and disadvantaged in the North Kensington Communities. After us, many other Law Centres opened in London and beyond and we are proud of our roots in within the Law Centre movement. We are members of the Law Centres Network, which helps to ensure the quality of our work.
Since 1970, whilst the needs of the communities may have changed, the challenges are still there. And we continue to work with those who need access to legal services and cannot afford a private law firm.
We have changed since those early days, and continue to change as we adapt to different needs and having less money to help people with. But we continue to be a legal service with a social conscience.
