From this week, residents from Bramley House, Treadgold House, Hurstway Walk, Barandon Walk, Testerton Walk and Verity Close will start paying rent again on their Lancaster West Estate residence.
However, this Tuesday, the Council will discuss approving measures to make payments to residents from these blocks. The Council says that these are being issued because of the disruption to services that residents in these blocks have faced following the Grenfell Tower disaster.
- Council tenants from Hurstway Walk, Barandon Walk and Testerton Walk who are living at home on the Walkways will receive a payment worth 50% of their rent and service charge. Leaseholders from these blocks will receive payments equivalent to 50% of their service charge; and
- Council tenants from Bramley House, Treadgold House and Verity Close who are living at home will be given payments equivalent to 15% of their rent and service charge. Leaseholders from these blocks will receive payments equivalent to 15% of their service charge.
These payments will be for a period of 8 weeks, from 5 February 2018 up to and including 1 April 2018, and will be credited directly into residents’ rent accounts. The policy will then be reviewed by the Council.
These payments will not affect any other claims brought forward by individuals who wish to claim for disruption to services in this period.
