ABOUT NKLC

North Kensington Law Centre was established in 1970, the first Law Centre in the country. We are a community-based quality legal service promoting access to rights and equality of opportunity.

About 75% of our time is spent on providing a legal casework service in complex cases, which often involve tribunal or court proceedings.

We provide telephone consultancy support to other professionals and community groups including: Housing Advice Service Kensington & Chelsea, CABx, K&C Social Workers, GPs, Migrant and Refugee Communities Forum, Somali Development Organisation, Lighthouse and Women's Aid. We believe this service is important in encouraging people to access quality legal advice.

The Law Centre also runs a free evening advice service in conjunction with the city law firm Dechert for people with legal problems that fall outside our traditional casework, such as small claims and consumer matters as well as helping local community groups and small businesses.
